SMSB 2026 will address cutting-edge developments and established practices across the full lifecycle of short and medium-span bridges. The technical program will feature topics of interest to academics, designers, owners, contractors, and technology providers involved in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridge infrastructure.

Submission Details
Full Paper, Case Study, and Abstract-Only Submissions
Guidelines for the preparation of full paper, case study, and abstract-only submissions, including template, are available below.
Registration Requirements
Authors are expected to complete their conference registration at the time of paper, case study, or formatted abstract submission (March 1, 2026).
If an author’s paper is not accepted by the Technical Committee, a full refund of their conference registration will be issued. Note that authors are limited to two submissions per paid registration. Authors attending for One-Day only, your selected registration date will be adjusted to match your assigned presentation date.
Details and Timeline
The paper review process will be completed in April 2026. You will be informed by e-mail of the review results at that time. All authors will be required to submit their final paper or case study/extended abstract, case study, or abstract in PDF format by April 30, 2026. Final paper acceptance notifications will be provided by May 15, 2026.
All accepted papers for which an author registration has been received will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be provided to all attendees at the beginning of the conference.
Proceedings & Publications
We are pleased to share that CSCE has negotiated a new publishing agreement for our conference proceedings with leading academic publisher, University of Toronto Press (UTP). Full papers will be published (including indexing) through UTP after the conference, following a proceedings review process completed by UTP.
In addition, all accepted papers, case studies, and formatted abstracts will be included in the Conference Proceedings, distributed to attendees at the beginning of the conference.
